Sylvia Danese DiCola

Sylvia Danese DiCola, owner of Danese Creations, has been in business since 1971.  In her shop located in the heart of Phoenix, men and women can get all their custom designing, tailoring, alteration, bridal wear and all accessories, fabric, jewelry and the best fitting bra.

Sylvia’s gift of custom designing has been passed down for 3 generations by her mother and grandmother.  Sylvia started sewing at a very early age, because her mother was always so busy, and also because she liked certain styles that her mother wouldn’t make for her.  She designed her own clothes at a very young age.

Sylvia will custom design your gown, tuxedo or any other garment, taking into consideration not only the shape of your face and body, BUT ALSO the shape of your eyes.  You get to choose exactly what you want, down to the tiniest detail, and she’ll have it for whenever you need it.

Danese Creations has been featured in the Yes section of The Arizona Republic newspaper as “Designer of the Week”, and her designs have graced the Yes cover twice, once for the gift issue and once for the bridal issue.

Arizona Foothills Magazine included Danese Creations in their “101 Things We Love About Phoenix”, and they also wrote a story about the bridal side of the business, as did The Jewish News newspaper, which featured a picture of a Danese Creations original design for a destination wedding.

Sylvia has also been featured on Channel 3’s “Good Evening Arizona” and Channel 15’s “Sonoran Living” for her expert fittings of bras and her original designs.

And she’s a semi-regular guest on Channel 3’s “Good Morning Arizona,” where she’ll show original designs that vary depending on the season.

One of her original designs was worn to the 2005 Emmys and created such publicity for the daring way it was worn that the nationally syndicated news show, “Inside Edition”, featured Sylvia and the dress the next day for the whole country to see.

Sylvia designed a leather and silk jacket for Ray Herndon of McBride and the Ride when he went to perform and accept an award at the Country Music Awards.

On Holy Saturday, the day before Easter, 1985, Sylvia saved a wedding and broke her own record by making a full length, fully lined wedding dress from start to finish in 2 hours and 50 minutes.  As a result and because of her original designs, she has been dubbed “The Fairy Godmother of Fashion” by local tv Channels 3 and 12.

Her greatest enjoyment comes after all the work is done and gone, and she gets the cards and letters of thanks and how happy and comfortable her customers felt when wearing what Sylvia made for them.

Sylvia designs for people she never sees face to face, and she also has customers who travel cross country and from other countries to see her and have her help them with either custom designing or alterations.

She can make your garment from a picture, a drawing, an idea or copy another garment.  She’s an expert at redesigning heirloom wedding gowns from the past, furs, and St. John knits, and she can always find a way to make your garment fit—whether to make it lots bigger, or lots smaller.

She has a way of fitting you for a bra to perfection, and she can show you how to look like you lost 10 pounds just by wearing the right size bra.

Sylvia’s motto is “Yes we can, just say when.”  When is your next big event that Sylvia can help you with?
